Episode Summary
- Much to Janey’s amusement, Michael is living the life of Riley and despite contributing nothing financially to the household, doesn’t even do so much as empty the bin. On coming home drunk yet again, Michael is confronted by a furious Ben, now at the end of his tether. However, in the resulting father-son chat, Michael admits to Ben that he is gay. Susan can’t believe that Michael has “come out” to his father of all people but Ben is coping annoyingly admirably and it turns out that it’s Susan who’s having trouble accepting that their son is gay. Michael tries to help by telling them about his boyfriend, Scott, but to no avail. Whilst bragging about how close he and Michael have become, Ben accidentally “outs” Scott to his father who consequently throws Scott out of the house. Ben drags the whole family with him to confront Scott’s father but in the end it is Susan who steps up to the plate. Meanwhile, Janey’s career as a carer isn’t going so well – client Joe is old and cantankerous and won’t stop asking about potato salad. Janey decides to quit but ends up bidding farewell to Joe in more ways than one and her patience for her patient does not go unrewarded.
