Episode Summary
- Ben and Susan on autopilot prepare breakfast. Abi likes the fact that they are a couple, doing the same thing every morning. Michael has discovered the house is haunted. Nick has become a mini cab driver in the family car. Susan’s assistant brings her in flowers from Kirk, an old flame. That night, Nick wants Ben to test him on the knowledge, for his mini cab exam. Susan tells Ben she has heard from Kirk, and does he mind if she goes to meet him in a restaurant? Susan arrives at the restaurant, sees Kirk is gorgeous, and beetles into the loo. Sees a lady and starts rummaging thru her bag for more lipstick. At home, Abi and Michael have eaten all the dinner, and haven’t saved any for Ben. Which is fine as he has bought himself Chinese take-away and doesn’t share it. Nick has received a speeding fine from Slough. Back in the restaurant, Susan is washing her hands, the soap splashes over her dress. She then arrives at the table, she meets Kirk and notices she has loo paper trailing from her shoe. After dinner, on a very stormy night, Susan returns from the restaurant and calls Janey from the under stairs cupboard. She asks Janey’s advice on how to hurt him like he hurt her 28 years ago. Abi comes down stairs and hears thunder and noises from the cupboard and thinks the place is haunted. Susan returns, and tells Ben that the years have not been kind to Kirk Mason, that he was totally unattractive. But she would like Ben to be at least a little jealous. The next day in the surgery, Ben looks Kirk up on the internet and sees a very attractive man. His rather manly assistant, gets the wrong end of the situation, and sprays mace in Ben’s face. Abi explains to Nick that the house is haunted and he decides he will find an exorcist. Susan returns at 11.30 that night after supposedly being at pottery class. She brings home a Royal Albert pot, with a price label on it! She finally admits she has been with Kirk. Ben wants her to stop seeing him. Abi goes into the family bathroom and hears giggling from behind the shower curtain. It is Susan, fully clothed and on the phone to Kirk. She tries to explain, that all she wants to do is stand him up. Nick, dressed as an exorcist comes in and sprinkles Ben, who is sleeping on the sofa, with holy water. Ben finds out Susan is at the cinema and bribes Nick to drive him there. We see Susan waiting to humiliate Kirk in the phone box, and Nick and Ben watching from the car. Kirk finds Susan and they go into the film. Ben appears behind Susan and she climbs over to Ben.
