Everyone is in love in this week’s episode: Ben is in love - with an extremely large television of which he has taken delivery for a neighbour; Janey is in love with a new man, Adam, a widower with a son Kenzo’s age and a large bank account; Roger is in love with his new role as Special Constable; Michael’s current love has announced that she is pregnant!
Michael decides that he should do the honourable thing and propose marriage – he announces that Nikki’s parents think it would be good if they came round to discuss the ‘situation’. Janey’s new romance is running into trouble as Kenzo tells Janey he doesn’t like Adam’s son, Joshua.
Susan tells Nikki’s parents that Michael is prepared to marry Nikki, but they are after a £20,000 contribution instead. A row ensues and Nikki’s parents storm out. Michael is still intent on marriage. Ben is horrified, but Susan thinks it’s romantic and gives Michael an engagement ring which belonged to his grandmother.
Nikki arrives having been thrown out of her home by her parents – Susan agrees to let her stay. Michael announces he wants his family present when he proposes.
Janey and Daniel get into an argument over their children, and the romance appears over until Kenzo and Joshua come downstairs saying they’re now friends.
As Michael gets up the courage to propose to Nikki he’s interrupted by the arrival of her parents who ask to speak to Nikki alone. Ben, Susan, Janey and Michael wait in the kitchen for news but when they enter the sitting room they discover that the Bakers have taken anything of value, including the neighbour’s TV and left – in Ben’s car!
Ben gets his mother’s ring back but gives it to the neighbour when he calls to pick up his television.
